The film is shortlisted in the categories of <strong>Best Actress in a Leading Role</strong> for <strong>Sophie Bullock</strong> and <strong>Best Music (Score or Song)</strong> for Kitty Harper&rsquo;s original score.<em> </em></p><p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>Ma Prison</em> follows a young girl (Sophie Bullock) grappling with the devastating loss of her mother while enduring bullying and an abusive relationship with her French teacher (Susannah May). As tensions escalate, she uncovers a deeper, unexpected truth behind her teacher&rsquo;s harsh actions, leading to a poignant exploration of grief, empathy, anger, and complex human connections.</p><p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Kitty Harper</strong> had this to say regarding the nominatios: &ldquo;My 2 greatest passions in life are music and filmmaking. To be recognized and acknowledged for scoring my own film is truly humbling. I&rsquo;m also so proud of Sophie for her Best Actress in a Leading Role nomination. Very well deserved.&rdquo;The nominations were announced on 26th April 2026 at the Queen of Bradgate Vintage Cinema in Leicester. </p><p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Herb Jackson Jr.</strong> of <strong>I Ain&rsquo;t No Herb Jackson Studio</strong>, who served as Executive Producer on the project, commented: &ldquo;I am delighted regarding Kitty&#039;s nomination for Ma Prison. The awards ceremony is upcoming, with tickets now available.</p><h4 id=\"about-kitty-harper\" >About Kitty Harper</h4><p style=\"text-align: left\">Kitty is a writer, filmmaker and musician from Birmingham, UK. As a classically trained musician with a passion for the arts, she gained a bachelors degree in music composition from Coventry University back in 2010. Alongside her degree, she also took a screenwriting course to further develop her script writing. After graduating she founded her own theatre company where she was able to showcase her plays, then soon after transitioned into filmmaking. She produces and edits her films under her own company name Purple Box Films.
